Our 5th B-Day Enviro Show!, Tues., August 31, 6:30p

Greetings Earthlings. Believe it or not we’ve reached age 5 here on The Enviro Show. Yes, we have behavioral problems, but no, bed wetting is not one of them. The show turned 5 on August 26. We guess that makes us a Virgo and therefore: “fussy and a worrier; overcritical and harsh; perfectionist and (get this) CONSERVATIVE”! (OK, maybe not). Tom Neilson joins us in the studio for our Birthday bash. There will be cake….(well, it’s really corn bread)…for eveyone! Sorry, no burning candles allowed in the studio. Just because we’ll be partying doesn’t mean we’re asleep at the switch. Of course, there’s another more somber 5 year year anniversary taking place in New Orleans, isn’t there. We continue to update you on the ongoing BP Cover-up as well as hip you to other issues in The Enviro Show Echo Chamber and in our E-Valley-uation segment, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! We jump into the Wayback Machine to visit tiny jellyfish who kill you!

The Rights of Nature Enviro Show, August 17, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. So, we supposedly have “The Rights of Man”, “Women’s Rights”, and “Civil Rights” (ok, ok, it’s a work in progress), how about The Rights of Nature? Ecuador wrote them into their constitution; in the U.S.? Not so much. Jeff Conant, Media Coordinator for Global Justice Ecology and author of “A Poetics of Resistance: The Revolutionary Public Relations of the Zapatista Insurgency” published by AK Press joins us to talk about it. We return once again to Meet the New Boss and scope out the Enviro Show Echo Chamber, as well as get to that George Carlin quote we dumped last time around, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! Toilet snake terrorizes Brits! (these things wouldn’t happen if they used composting toilets).

The Biological Predator Enviro Show, 6/8, 6:30pm

The Biological Predator Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlings. It’s confirmed: BP stands for Biological Predator and we here on The Enviro Show are calling for the Predator’s head, especially given that it’s World Oceans Day!. We’ll be covering the latest news from the Gulf in the Enviro Show Echo Chamber and our Meet the New Boss segments as well as field a call from Scott Eustis of New Orleans Critical Mass (and a fisheries scientist), but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! We love this one. Croc attacks chainsaw!

Invading the Quabbin Enviro Show, Tues. 5/25, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. There’s aliens invading the Quabbin watershed! Some invaders have chainsaws, some have tendrils and seeds. Don Wakoluk , former Asst. Forester for the Department of Consternation and Reprobation (DCR) at the Quabbin from 2007 to 2009 joins us in the studio to check that out. Of course, alien clearcuts have been discovered over there as well and we’ll check that out in our E-Valley-uation segment. Also, we stagger into the Meet The New Boss segment as well as checkout The Enviro Show Quote of the Week and The Echo Chamber, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! Attack of the Funky shrimp!
The Enviro Show Quote of the Week qualifies as one of the most outrageous yet to come from the ranks of Big Oil:

“The Gulf of Mexico is a very big ocean. The amount of volume of oil and dispersant we are putting into it is tiny in relation to the total water volume.”
-Tony Hayward, CEO of British Petroleum

The Down with King Coal Enviro Show, Part II, 4/13, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. Looks like King Coal’s in the news once again and as usual it’s bad news. Peter Vickery returns with tales of that old coal-burning clunker by Mt. Tom and Mass Greens efforts to raise awareness. We’ll checkout the situation down south with mountain-top removal and our arch nemesis Don Blankenship. As always we’ll visit The Enviro Show Echo Chamber as well as devote some time to Meet the New Boss and hear The Enviro Show Quote of the week, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! Turkey shakes up the cops! Read more on The Down with King Coal Enviro Show, Part II, 4/13, 6:30pm…

The Shut it Down! Enviro Show, 3/30, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. It’s just shy of April Fools…umm…Fission Fools Day? Also known as Fossil Fools Day (take your pick! choose both!!). Deb Katz of Citizens Awareness Network returns to The Enviro Show to update us on that God-awful leaky old nuke just over the border in Vermont (did we mention The Valley is just downwind & downstream from there?). Also, we finally get to that E-Valley-uation segment that got away from us last time, and we checkout The Enviro Show Echo Chamber for the news of the week. Did we say “week”? How about the Quote of the Week! We may even get to the Bus Stop Billboard, but first it’s time for…. Revenge of the Critters! Bird bombs Hadron Collider with Baguette!

Another Spring Equinox Enviro Show, 3/16, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. Breakout the scarlet eggs and round-up those hares, it’s almost time to celebrate Lady Day or the Festival of the Goddess Eostar. Our in-house pagans, Laura & Penny return to these microphones to explain the Rites of Spring. As usual we’ll also checkout the latest enviro news in the Echo Chamber and the local angle in our E-Valley-uation segment. Additionally, we present The Enviro Show Quote of the Week and Meet the New Boss, but first it’s time for…Revenge of the Critters! Speaking of the Spring bunny, let’s rewind the: Crazed hare attack!

In our Meet the New Boss segment it’s same old/same old as Lisa Jackson’s EPA fails us on several fronts. Clean water? Maybe not!. Carbon emissions as pollution? Maybe later. And finally this: Obama greenwashes nukes. Yes he can!

On to The Enviro Show Echo Chamber! Time for some good news, yes? Grist informed us months ago that properly sited wind power and a good grid really can free us from fossils. And this: Groups Oppose Tax Credits for Biomass Burning. Also from Grist: Big Oil’s astroturf efforts against so-called “energy taxes” features fake people! As it turns out, the “Americans” presented in the ad are stock photos from Getty Images. What? They can’t find real people to support them?? And finally, nitrous oxide in ocean dead zones are trashing the atmosphere. Will we die laughing?

The Endgame Enviro Show, Tues. 3/2, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. In keeping with our notoriety for gobs of gloom & doom here on The Enviro Show we get a call from Derrick Jensen, writer, activist, alarm-sounder and all around tree-hugging dirt-worshiper (hey! not unlike yours trulys!). We’ll be talking about some of his latest tomes like “What We Leave Behind” & “Endgame”. What? Not happy-clappy enough? Also, we delve into the latest enviro news in the old Echo Chamber, as well as in our E-Valley-uation segment; checkout The Enviro Show Quote of the Week; and visit the Bus Stop Billboard, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! You guessed it: captive Killer Whale lives up to its’ name. So why is it a captive again?

In our E-Valley-uation segment the BIG news is Vermont’s Senate voting not to extend VT Yankee’s funky old nuke an operating license beyond 2012. Don’t think for one minute that old leaky nuke doesn’t concern you here in the Valley. You are downwind and downstream and speaking of down: SHUT IT DOWN!

The Living Simply Enviro Show, 1/5/10, 6:30pm

The Living Simply Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlings. How about a New Years resolution (or should that be revolution?) to live simply so others can simply live? Jonathan & Susan von Ranson call-in to talk about their efforts in Wendell.  As usual we wander into the Enviro Show Echo Chamber for some recent news. Also we return to the Quote of the Week and our E-Valley-uation segment, but first it’s time for…. Revenge of the Critters! alien carp turn the tables on fisherfolk & G-men!

In The Enviro Show Echo Chamber this op-ed in the New York Times reminds us that “To Save the Planet, [we must] Save the Seas!” (but watch that REDD hype!).

The Enviro Show Quote of the Week comes short & sweet from south of the border:

“If the climate were a bank, the US would have saved it.” – Hugo Chavez

The Save the Land Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlings. Will developers fill every last acre with condos, McMansions and malls? Carol Gray of the South Amherst Conservation Association joins us to talk about saving the former Rock Farm on South East Street in Amherst, an environmentally rich piece of land threatened by a proposed high density development of 17 luxury condos (just what Amherst needs: more condos!). The Globe spins in our E-Valley-uation segment and it’s Obama’s bad in “Meet the New Boss”. Also, The Enviro Show Echo Chamber defers to The Daily Show while the Quote of the Week gets dragged out from beneath the Wayback machine, but first it’s time for…… Revenge of the Critters! Leech attack. Gardeners beware! Better wear eye protection.
