Greetings Earthlings. We know Enviro Show listeners are concerned about the health and well-being of the forests around us, but what about the history of those forests? Tom Wessels, ecologist and founding director of the master’s degree program in Conservation Biology at Antioch calls-in to talk with Glen about his new book “Forest Forensics”. And yes, we said “talk with Glen” ‘cuz Jean & D.O. are both away, leaving poor Glen to deal with the end of the world as we know it. Maybe he will spare you D.O.’s usual endless recitations from The Enviro Show Echo Chamber or our E-Valley-uation segment, but he certainly won’t blow off our….Revenge of the Critters! No, it’s not the manifestation of Bill O’Reilly’s “War against Christmas”, but hey, let’s talk about the Christian War against Pagans while we’re at it! Greetings Earthlings. We’re all about clearcuts on today’s show, here at home and around the planet. We’ll have Chris Matera, forest activist and author of the Clearcut Massachusetts blog in the studio with us. Chris has documented some little known clearcutting taking place on public land here in the Commonwealth. Also tonight, Obama Nation! Will the new prez’ protect the planet or will he cave to the corporados? (we can hope it’s the former, yes, we can!). Greetings Earthlings. Coming up on Halloween and not many days before we find out if we’re FINALLY rid of the Repugnican scourge OR subjected to yet another stolen election. Very scary. If it’s the latter, prepare to occupy the White House. Maybe we’ll paint it black! Tonight we’ll checkout the usual haunts for frightening news about the end of the world as we know it. Greetings Earthlings. Time to declare our independence from the enemies of the planet. Tom Neilson puts on his roving reporter’s hat and phones in from the heartland to talk about the proposed dumping of coal ash on farm land (what a concept!). We have a peek at local clearcutting facilitated by the Commonwealth (in their infinite wisdom!) and, as always, we give you the Enviro Show Quote of the Week, a visit with Darth Cheney and the boy emperor (both of whom experienced some un-welcomed rebellion on July 4 ), but first it’s time for……Revenge of the Critters! Dr. Lee Frelich, director of the Center for Hardwood Ecology at the University of Minnesota joins us to discuss things like the European Earthworm invasion…yes, you heard me right, it’s not some “B” sci-fi flick AND it’s coming to a forest near you!
