The Rights of Nature Enviro Show, August 17, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. So, we supposedly have “The Rights of Man”, “Women’s Rights”, and “Civil Rights” (ok, ok, it’s a work in progress), how about The Rights of Nature? Ecuador wrote them into their constitution; in the U.S.? Not so much. Jeff Conant, Media Coordinator for Global Justice Ecology and author of “A Poetics of Resistance: The Revolutionary Public Relations of the Zapatista Insurgency” published by AK Press joins us to talk about it. We return once again to Meet the New Boss and scope out the Enviro Show Echo Chamber, as well as get to that George Carlin quote we dumped last time around, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! Toilet snake terrorizes Brits! (these things wouldn’t happen if they used composting toilets).

The Big Oily Enviro Show, July 6, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. The saga continues: the catastrophic BP oil well blowout is transforming the Gulf of Mexico into some kind of futuristic end-of-times disaster film. Guess what? It’s not a movie (though there’s plenty enough footage on YouTube to make you sad/crazy/mad!) Take your pick: Toxic Oil Spill Rains on Crops?; It’s raining oil?; Surf on Pensacola Beach boiling like acid? BP disaster unstoppable?; or, our favorite: the End of the World! While you are at it, checkout our Enviro Show Banish BP! page and kick BP out of the Valley. Diane Wilson, fisher, activist, hell-raiser calls in to mull over these and more (unless, of course, she’s in jail for one of her many actions, in which case, Scott Eustis rejoins us from New Orleans). Also, Katie McGonagle of the local Climate Summer bike ride calls in with an update. As always, we wander into The Enviro Show Echo Chamber and maybe our Meet the New Boss segment, as well as checkout the Enviro Show Quote of the week, but first it’s time for….

Revenge of the Critters! Direct action in West Palm Beach by a “crazy bird”! Given what’s going on down there, maybe it’s not so crazy!

The Summer Solstice Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlngs. It’s that time of year again: Summer Solstice, time for the fire festival. Happy Midsummer Eve! Our in-house pagans, Laura & Penny return to (ahem!) enlighten us all. Also, roving reporter (and Bardic Insurgent) Tom Neilson calls in from the U.S. Social Forum. And, a call from Mike Howells, an activist from New Orleans with his finger on the pulse of what’s going on with grassroots response to BP’s crimes against the planet. As always, we’ll scope out the news in The Enviro Show Echo Chamber, as well as locally in our E-Valley-uation segment where we introduce (fanfare please) our very first Annual Enviro Show Big Green Clear Cutters Award!, but first, it’s time for……Revenge of the Critters! Gardeners beware! It’s the Attack of the Killer Mutant Leek Moths! Read more on The Summer Solstice Enviro Show, Tuesday, June 22, 6:30pm…

The Community Enviro Health Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlings. We’ve been focusing on the communities health here lately with regard to the proposed expansion of the Northampton dump over the Barnes Aquifer and tonight we’ll be hearing from author/activist, Jeff Conant whose recent book “A Community Guide to Environmental Health” seems right up our alley. As always we’ll be checking in on Darth Cheney, the boy emperor, John McSame and Sarah Barracuda (all prime suspects in an organized criminal enterprise disguised as a political party). We’ll checkout some news on the Enviro Show Eco Chamber and have the Quote of the Week, but first it’s time for…Revenge of the Critters! Deer attacks hunter and lawn chair!

The Off Grid Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlings. Time to turn our collective back on King Coal; Big Nuke; Big Hydro & Big Wind and see about generating our own power. Yes, it’s home utilities hour with our friend Brad Compton who lives out in the woods a good distance from power lines and the grip of corporate America. We’ll open up the phone lines if you have any questions about living independently here in the alleged Land of Liberty. As always we’ll checkout The Enviro Show Echo Chamber and the dastardly deeds of Darth Cheney and the boy emperor. Also, the Quote of the Week and the Bus Stop Billboard, but first it’s time for…..Revenge of the Critters! A Repugnican National Convention Special. In Palermo, Sicily the skies have been raining rats. Rodents that otherwise leap from rooftop to rooftop in the rundown center of Sicily’s capital, had grown too fat to jump and were plummeting to the streets, sometimes hitting passersby below. Warning, this could happen in the Twin Cities!

The Dump on the Aquifer Enviro Show

Greetings Earthlings. It’s nest-fouling watch once again on the Enviro Show. Time to have a longer conversation about the proposed expansion of the Northampton dump over the Barnes Aquifer. We’ll have Linda Hiesiger and Mike Fedora of Citizens United for a Healthy Future in the studio to talk about the issues. As always, we’ll take a healthy piece out of the Bush regime ; check-in on The Enviro Show Echo Chamber; hear the Quote of the Week and some tunes, but first it’s time for Revenge of the Critters!
Criket Attack!

The Post Enviro Show Post #6

Where are posts from other VFR programmers?? This is Valley Free Radio’s blog, not The Enviro Show blog!
Whatever!!

It was a dark and stormy night when Glen bailed out mid-show leaving D.O. lashed to the helm for his very first solo. Very scary and not without a slip-up or two. It won’t happen again.

The Sick Planet Enviro Show; 8/5; 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. As you’ve probably guessed by now, it’s a sick planet. From the nefarious deeds of Darth Cheney, the boy emperor, and Repugnican presidential candidate, John McSame, to all their corporado buddies. Big Oil is acting out! Big Pharma is getting bold. And, the senator (and indicted felon and Big Oil lackey) from way up in Alaska, Ted Stevens is whining about the recent indictment against him. We’ll be taking a look at these usual suspects and their planet trashing and we’ll hearing from Stan Cox, author of “Sick Planet”. The website says: “Sick Planet tells nine stories in which the global capitalist economy turns the well-intentioned efforts of humanity inside-out. By the tenth chapter, it will be clear that neither organic chicken soup nor full medical coverage can cure what ails this planet.” Of course, we’ll have some news and views and maybe The Enviro Show Quote of the Week, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! Python attacks pet store owner!

The Post Enviro Show Post #5

Just back from taking down posters for the VFR B-day Benefit that we canceled due to scheduling conflicts at Look Park (yes, the same posters i put up last week!). Toooooo bad, but since this enviro is a noted serial party pooper (prone to lurking on the outskirts of crowds or just plain not showing up) it actually works out for me. BTW, not all enviros are misanthropes, don’t get me wrong. Just because the human race is destroying the biosphere why should we hold it against our friends and neighbors, right? Some of my best friends may have four legs (or two legs and two wings, or eight legs even), but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a well trained human being now and then ya’ know.

The Return of the Wolf Enviro Show: 7/22, 6:30pm

Greetings Earthlings. It’s Koyanaskatsi, a world out of balance, thanks to industrialized human-centric society, but hey, we can evolve right?? Umm….right? Re-wilding, or reintroducing displaced species may be part of the solution. We have a conversation with Rob Edward, Carnivore Recovery Director for WildEarth Guardians. Of course we’ll always find time to bash Bush and the Empire, and checkout The Enviro Show Echo Chamber and Quote of the Week, as well as a call from Tom Neilson out on the road, but first it’s time for….Revenge of the Critters! We jump into the Wayback Machine for a tale of man and wolf.
