Total Running Time: 60:00

This Week’s Topics:

–Congressman Joe Sestak (D-PA) joins us live to discuss his campaign to replace Senator Arlen Specter as Senator from Pennsylvania, healthcare, his job offer from the Obama administration to get him off the campaign trail, and more.

–Mike McHugh, Christian homeschooling advocate and marketing director for Homeschools.org joins us live to discuss why a Christian homeschooling education is his preferred method, and it gets heated with David Pakman when discussing whether an education based around Jesus is a good idea.

–The hilarious but creepy Vatican gay sex scandal continues, this time with gay prostitution transcripts, and it becomes clear that the Catholic Church is morally bankrupt and irresponsible.

–The Chief Exorcist of the Catholic Church explains that the devil getting into the Vatican is a contributing factor to the incessant pedophilia and immoral practices of church members.

–Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and his history of off-color remarks.

–The Eric Massa scandal, including Massa massages, groping and tickling male staffers, refusing to address his sexual orientation, and more.

–Glenn Beck thinks the government is trying to increase slavery through the 2010 census.

–JD Hayworth compares gay marriage to bestiality, but cannot seem to understand that animals are unable to sign marriage contracts.

–Republicans are drumming up support to put Ronald Reagan’s face on the 50 dollar bill, an example of conservative obsession with idolizing Ronald Reagan in much the same way they criticize the perception of Barack Obama in the same light.

–A GOP fundraising guide is found, and it includes funny suggestions about raising money through the use of fear, tchochkes, and ego-driven appeals, as well as much more.

–Rush Limbaugh says that if the proposed healthcare reform is passed, he would go to Costa Rica for medical procedures, a country that has the same nationalized healthcare that Limbaugh is so strongly against.

–Congressman Patrick Kennedy gets himself all wound up in on the floor of the House with regard to media coverage of politics.

–Audience emails, including angry and positive emails about the recent interview with Shirley Phelps-Roper of the God Hates Fags Westboro Baptist Church.

Total Running Time: 57:57

This Week’s Topics:

–Sit-down interview with Congressman Barney Frank about financial reform, Iraq, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and more.

–New radio and television stations airing Midweek Politics in Hartford and Massachusetts.

–An incredible story about a group of evangelical churchgoers who decided to steal children from Haiti to convert them away from Catholicism and to Baptists, and who fortunately were arrested before leaving the country with any kids.

–Peter Sprigg from the Family Research Council believes that homosexuality should be outlawed and punishable by law.

–Sprigg’s colleague, Tony Perkins, also subscribes to bizarre and extreme ideology when it comes to homosexuality.

–During a hearing in New Hampshire related to repealing same-sex marriage, Representative Nancy Elliott gives some strange and entertaining thoughts about homosexual activity.

–The new national security distraction of Arabic language students from the US, highlighted by the aggressive detention and interrogation of Nick George from Pomona College who was caught with English/Arabic flashcards for words such as funny and to smile.

–We discuss whether going after students studying Arabic for 4 hours with 7 different law enforcement officials keeps us more safe, or takes resources away from actual potential terrorists.

–In explaining the difference in reactions from trying shoebomber Robert Reid in the US during the Bush administration and the underwear bomber in the US now, Newt Gingrich resorts to lying that Richard Reid was an American citizen, and Monica Crowley that there simply were no military tribunals in 2001.

–In what can only be described as a fantasy world, Dick Cheney criticizes Barack Obama and Joe Biden for trying to take credit from Bush and Cheney for the miraculous, incredible success that is the war in Iraq.

–Senator Evan Bayh says he will not seek re-election to the US Senate, and while he says the decision was not motivated by being down in the polls, which he is not, he did take a few shots at Congress, and we discuss whether it will hurt or help him in a potential run for the presidency, which some are predicting.

–Director Kevin Smith is thrown off of a Southwest Airlines flight for being too fat, and it has create a frenzy on Twitter between Smith and the airline.

–Michelle Obama will appear on Fox News with Mike Huckabee in what seems like a carefully crafted non-political appearance related to childhood obesity.

–A deluge of emails after last week’s interview with anti-gay Paul Cameron goes viral.

–Ervin Staub, Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts and Abu Ghraib expert witness, joins us live in studio.

–Viewer emails about Tim Tebow and Midweek Politics.

–The Super Bowl and the Focus on the Family Tim Tebow anti-abortion advertisement, which many could not tell was anti-abortion.

–A gay dating site who tried to purchase an ad on the Super Bowl was rejected by CBS, while the anti-abortion ad was allowed.

–The Tea Party Conference, whether the possible success of the Tea Party would help liberals or conservatives more, and Tom Tancredo’s incredible comments during his turn at the podium.

–Chris Matthews with another strange race-related comment, saying he forgot Barack Obama was black for an hour during the SOTU.

–Obama asks for a full repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell during the SOTU, and Defense Secretary Robert Gates agrees, yet a task force needs to research DADT for one year before anything will be done.

Total Running Time: 57:49

This Week’s Topics:

–Eric Weaver, CEO of Opportunity Fund, joins us to discuss microlending, economic recovery, and much more.

–New stations in Massachusetts, Georgia, and Maine.

–Emails pour in about co- producer Louis’ claim that he does not vote in local elections, and no evidence exists that he ever donated to the Barack Obama campaign.

–The Supreme Court ruling that corporations have the same first amendment rights as individuals and may spend freely to support or oppose candidates for President and Congress, and analysis of which Justices voted which way, and the effect this could have.

–Do second amendment rights, by extension, also flow to corporations?

–The Hope for Haiti Now Telethon is television on CBS, ABC, NBC, CW, FOX, TNT, Weather Channel, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, HBO, Showtime, Major League Baseball Network, Style Network, E! Entertainment Network, ReelzChannel, TNT, Comedy Central, Oxygen, Soap Opera channel ,Bravo, National Geographic Channel, Sleuth, G4, CMT, TV1, BET, MTV, MTV2, VH1, GMC, FUSE, Current, PBS, even streaming live on IMDb, Hulu and YouTube, but NOT on Fox News Channel, and we look at why, including whether its racism, anger that CNN’s Anderson Cooper was involved, or some other reason.

–Instead of showing embarrassment that his network alone chose not to air the Haiti Telethon, Bill O’Reilly expresses concern about whether donated funds will make it to the right people.

–Irate anger on the Midweek Politics YouTube channel from violently anti-gay listeners in response to criticism of anti-gay pastor Steven Anderson.

–New song parodies and press releases from the Westboro Baptist Church, which recently announced the God hates Haiti, and that Haiti has been punished by God with earthquakes and a high population with AIDS.

–Super Bowl advertising hypocrisy, with a possible anti-abortion ad featuring football player Tim Tebow and Focus on the Family on CBS, after CBS rejected a pro-gay rights ad for the Super Bowl in 2004.

–Fox News fawns over Scott Brown, running non-journalism fluff biography pieces about the recently elected Senator from Massachusetts.

–The Lieutenant Governor and possible Governor-to-be of South Carolina suggests that people should not provide food to the poor because they will breed.

–Airport hijinks, including one man trying to open the front door of a flight to Las Vegas while in flight, and a man caught with 44 endangered lizards in his underwear in New Zealand.

<itunes:summary>This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / January 27th, 2010

Total Running Time: 57:49

This Week's Topics:

--Eric Weaver, CEO of Opportunity Fund, joins us to discuss microlending, economic recovery, and much more.

--New stations in Massachusetts, Georgia, and Maine.

--Emails pour in about co- producer Louis' claim that he does not vote in local elections, and no evidence exists that he ever donated to the Barack Obama campaign.

--The Supreme Court ruling that corporations have the same first amendment rights as individuals and may spend freely to support or oppose candidates for President and Congress, and analysis of which Justices voted which way, and the effect this could have.

--Do second amendment rights, by extension, also flow to corporations?

--The Hope for Haiti Now Telethon is television on CBS, ABC, NBC, CW, FOX, TNT, Weather Channel, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, HBO, Showtime, Major League Baseball Network, Style Network, E! Entertainment Network, ReelzChannel, TNT, Comedy Central, Oxygen, Soap Opera channel ,Bravo, National Geographic Channel, Sleuth, G4, CMT, TV1, BET, MTV, MTV2, VH1, GMC, FUSE, Current, PBS, even streaming live on IMDb, Hulu and YouTube, but NOT on Fox News Channel, and we look at why, including whether its racism, anger that CNN's Anderson Cooper was involved, or some other reason.

--Instead of showing embarrassment that his network alone chose not to air the Haiti Telethon, Bill O'Reilly expresses concern about whether donated funds will make it to the right people.

--Irate anger on the Midweek Politics YouTube channel from violently anti-gay listeners in response to criticism of anti-gay pastor Steven Anderson.

--New song parodies and press releases from the Westboro Baptist Church, which recently announced the God hates Haiti, and that Haiti has been punished by God with earthquakes and a high population with AIDS.

--Super Bowl advertising hypocrisy, with a possible anti-abortion ad featuring football player Tim Tebow and Focus on the Family on CBS, after CBS rejected a pro-gay rights ad for the Super Bowl in 2004.

--Fox News fawns over Scott Brown, running non-journalism fluff biography pieces about the recently elected Senator from Massachusetts.

--The Lieutenant Governor and possible Governor-to-be of South Carolina suggests that people should not provide food to the poor because they will breed.

--Airport hijinks, including one man trying to open the front door of a flight to Las Vegas while in flight, and a man caught with 44 endangered lizards in his underwear in New Zealand.

–The Haitian earthquake, including Barack Obama’s quick response, and why it was too quick for Rush Limbaugh, after saying the response to the underwear bomber was too slow.

–The status of illegal Haitian immigrants in the US and deportation, over 30 aftershocks following the magnitude 7 earthquake, and Fox News coverage of the event.

–Pat Robertson suggests that the Haitian earthquake is a result of Haiti’s signing of a pact with the devil to free them from France’s rule, and even Imus disagrees.

–It turns out Wyclef Jean’s charity is under scrutiny for strange practices, including paying Wyclef himself for performing to raise money for his OWN charity, among many other problems.

–The Massachusetts special election results in a win for Republican Scott Brown 52 to 47 percent, and the big question is what will happen with healthcare, including the several options to get healthcare reform passed in spite of Scott Brown’s intentions to prevent it.

–Harry Reid’s Obama Negro comments and the subsequent apology, and why the analysis was accurate while Reid still used racist terms.

–We discuss why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have become de facto apology-takers when it comes to African-Americans, particularly when they themselves have hugely racist pasts.

–Comments on the Harry Reid Negro statement from Governor Tim Kaine, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, and Rod Blagojevich’s own bizarre racist comments.

–The book Game Change by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin and the fascinating stories it tell.

–Bill Clinton’s comments that upset Ted Kennedy, referring to Barack Obama as someone who would have been getting them coffee a few years ago, and Hillary’s desire to push Obama cocaine stories as much as possible, even at the warning of her aides.

–More information indicating Sarah Palin was completely uninformed about a plethora of topics, including basic national security and foreign affairs issues, and the fear that the McCain campaign had that the VP debate would be an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions.

–The revelation that Palin’s request to call Senator Biden Joe during the debate was actually a strategy to prevent her from repeatedly calling him Senator O’Biden, which she still did do once during the debate.

Total Running Time: 56:15

This Week’s Topics:

–Chris Martenson from ChrisMartenson.com joins us live to discuss the economy, alternative energy development, green jobs, his transition out of corporate America, and more.

–All airline passengers from 14 specific countries will now be screened in detail when flying.

–Newark Airport Terminal C gets locked down as a result of one man skipping security through the exit lane while cameras were not recording and a TSA agent reportedly was on his cell phone not paying attention, and thousands of passengers have to get rescreened as a result.

–Joe Lieberman, not surprisingly, says that AbdulMutallab should not be tried in the US court system, and on top of it, GITMO should stay open and is the most humane place anyone could be held as a detainee.

–Barack Obama restates that there were security problems leading to AbdulMutallab’s underwear bombing attempt, and that GITMO should still be closed.

–Fox News shows another bizarre Rasmussen poll, this one suggesting that almost two thirds of Americans want illegal waterboarding techniques used on the underwear bomber AbdulMutallab.

–After barely hearing from Dick Cheney for eight years, he is again in the news criticizing Barack Obama and suggesting that Obama does not take American security seriously.

–Wabasha County Republican Allan Quist says liberals are more of a threat to the US than terrorist like AbdulMutallab.

–3 high-level Democrats, including Senator Chris Dodd, will not be running for re-election in 2010, creating more problems for Democrats.

–Sarah Palin’s audiobook of Going Rogue includes some bizarre statements.

–Looking at 50 things we learned during 2009, a whole bunch simply do not make sense to those that interpret the Bible literally.

–Rush Limbaugh’s healthcare scare, and his press conference stating that the best healthcare is in the US, which it certainly is, for billionaires like Rush.

–College football coach Mike Leach is in trouble for allegedly putting one of his players into small confined spaces after a concussion diagnosis, and two NBA players from the Washington Wizards pulled guns on each other.

–An arraignment in the Northampton, Massachusetts serial arson case that made national news over the last ten days.

–The healthcare non-reform bill passes, with controversy, at one in the morning on the Senate floor.

–Senator Tom Coburn asks others to pray some do not make it to the healthcare vote, then afterward explains he was referring to an alarm clock simply not going off.

–Senator Bernie Sanders withdraws his single-payer amendment to the health insurance bill after Senator Coburn makes a Senate clerk read all 767 pages out loud.

–Al Franken denies Joe Lieberman additional speaking time on the floor of the Senate, and all hell breaks loose.

–John McCain says he does not remember another instance of a Senator objecting to another Senator receiving a few additional moments to speak, but it turns out McCain himself did so a few years back, although the tape was temporarily misplaced by CSPAN.

–Fox and Friends and Bill O’Reilly take the opportunity to criticize both Al Franken and other liberals as a result of this incident.

–Michael Steele equates the healthcare bill to flipping the bird to Americans.

–We look at what exactly is still in the healthcare bill, and whether there is any chance at all of a public option.

–Guantanamo Bay’s closing is delayed by at least one year.

–Barack Obama’s appearance at the Copenhagen climate talks doesn’t quite go as planned, but you would not know it from reading the majority of American newspapers.

–Leading global warming denier Senator Jim Inhofe flies to Copenhagen with no plans or schedule, and makes a fool out of himself.

–Fox News presents a fair and balanced special called Global Warming, or a Lot of Hot Air, and we discuss the differences between that and a special on the Discovery Channel.

–More math trouble for Fox News as they fudge the numbers on an already-biased poll to show that 120% of Americans believe research was falsified relating to global warming.

–Obama approval in trouble, and we look at the various ups and down thus far.

–Congressman Parker Griffith defects to the Republican Party.

–Sarah Palin attempts an incognito vacation to Hawaii by wearing a John McCain baseball hate with the name blocked off, and then quits yet more things by leaving her vacation early.

–It turns out that the man recently arrested for bringing guns near Obama is a former George W. Bush employee.

–Pregnancy ban in the military.

–Rudy Giuliani will not run for anything in 2010.

–New rules for planes and a disaster on a train.

Total Running Time: 57:28

This Week’s Topics:

–Maggie Bergin, government affairs consultant/lobbyist from The Art of Politics, joins us live in studio.

–New stations airing Midweek Politics in Nashville, Olympia, Wisconsin, and Charlotte.

–Getting into the Christmas spirit with new song parodies from both the left and right.

–Barack Obama’s acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize in Copenhagen, although many question it even more after his decision to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

–Sarah Palin says that she wrote something very similar to what Barack Obama said at his acceptance speech in her book, maybe looking for some credit.

–More non-reality based fake debate on MSNBC, with a conservative bringing back the favorite talking point of freeing millions of people in Iraq.

–Healthcare reform moves closer to non-reform, with even the Medicare buy-in basically removed, and Joe Lieberman becoming the public face of the latest bill. We look at what is actually still part of the bill, whether insurance companies actually conceded anything, and whether there is any reform in the bill.

–Howard Dean says the best option is at this point to kill the Senate healthcare bill altogether.

–Radiation from CT scans done in 2007 will cause 29,000 cancers and lead to 15,000 deaths, a CDC report states.

–Children of parents on Medicaid are being prescribed anti-psychotic drugs at four times the rate of those with private insurance.

–Alan Greenspan’s recent comments about unemployment, and what we can expect from each side of the political spectrum whether unemployment goes up or down.

–Now that banks are starting to pay back their bailout funds, Barack Obama says we need them to start lending and help get the economy going again, but that’s exactly what he said they needed to do when they were first given the money.

–A new poll shows that members of Congress are considered as unethical and dishonest as car salesmen, at the very bottom of the list.

–Gay marriage has been voted in by the Washington DC City Council, Annise Parker voted as the first openly gay marriage of Houston, and we look at the state of gay marriage in the US today.

–An update on H1N1 Swine Flu.

Total Running Time: 56:19

This Week’s Topics:

–Critical emails about Ralph Nader’s appearance last week on Midweek Politics.

–Do Midweek Politics listeners listen to conservative talk radio, too?

–Sarah Palin floats Glenn Beck as a possible 2012 running mate, and has long been considered a communist liberal by some in Alaska.

–Sarah Palin’s comments about Israel suggest she may have only recently heard about the country’s existence.

–NBC shows clearly photoshopped pictures of Sarah Palin on one of their networks, and then says that it took them days to sort it out and to prevent it from happening again.

–Interesting Palin book tour interviews with Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly, including Palin claiming that she is more experienced than both Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

–Tucker Carlson says Palin is more experienced than Obama and smarter than Al Gore.

–Size matters for Fox News and conservatives, as we can clearly see from their obsession with the number of pages in the healthcare reform bill.

–Barack Obama’s approval ratings are lower than ever, and negative on all issues other than energy policy and global warming.

–Fearmongering increases related to an Obama one world government and new world order.

–In addition to Chuck Norris, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being asked for political commentary on Fox News.

–The Khalid Sheikh-Mohamed trial, including comments from AG Eric Holder, and Senators Dianne Feinstein and Linsday Graham.

–Isn’t it time that the media stop referring to Senate Democrats when they are actually talking about Joe Lieberman?

–Gay marriage news, including violently anti-gay Pastor Harry Jackson.

–Rudy Giuliani is rumored to be running for US Senate in 2010 as a precursor to President in 2012, although his people have denied the allegations.

–A warning from General George Casey that diversity would be an unfortunate casualty of the Fort Hood incident.

–Horace Cooper, a multi-time Midweek Politics guest, lawyer, and political commentator is indicted for involvement with Jack Abramoff and other corruption charges.

–The US could see $5 billion if the 2018 or 2022 World Cup came to the US, but it is not clear whether conservatives would rally against it, as they did against the Olympics coming to Chicago, if President Obama gets involved.

–Check writing, and why no one should write checks anymore, including that it’s incredibly slow, a top way to have your identity stolen, expensive if you lose your checkbook, and a huge annoyance to anyone waiting in line behind you.

–Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid decides to put the public option back into the bill to be voted on, including an opt-out option for states, rather than making states have to opt-in, but is the public option even real reform at this point, given that the insurance companies have gotten everything they want.

–The public option is not the liberal, radical option, but rather a moderate alternative to single-payer healthcare, and Congressman Anthony Weiner makes the media rounds to make exactly that point.

–Joe Lieberman, who many claim is with the Democrats on everything except for the war, says he will not support any healthcare bill with a public option, and will support filibustering such proposals.

–On CSPAN, utter incompetence as callers on Medicare and the VA healthcare program complain that they don’t want the government getting involved in their healthcare.

–It turns out many Republicans in Congress are already on the same type of public option that they oppose.

–Analyzing whether dental insurance even makes sense, similar to many of the available healthcare plans.

–The ongoing Fox News White House war that has continued to escalate, with more bitterness from Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and comparisons between Fox News and Islamic Jihadists.

–A Dallas cop gives a woman a ticket for being a non-English speaking driver, although there are no laws against it, and it turns out it is common in Texas, although it is not a law.

–A Hotel owner who insisted in referring to his Hispanic employees by more Anglo names.

–The Taliban in Afghanistan is trying to get soldiers addicted to heroin to hinder their mission there.

–Sarah Palin’s book royalties are sky high, especially considering she did not write the book.

–Nordic countries, led by Norway, have the most gender equality when it comes to income, wellbeing, education, and more.
