PROGRAMMER RE-APPLICATION PROCESS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PROGRAMMER RE-APPLICATION PROCESS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: I am a current programmer but I have not as yet reapplied.  Is it too late?

A: It is not too late.  The last date you can apply is October 5th [the last programming meeting before implementation of new schedule].

Q: What if I have not fulfilled my volunteer work hours?  Though you are now trying to set things straight, you may have up to 14 hours to fulfill your requirements for the year.  Don’t worry, there is still time to catch up.  Work days are now scheduled for every first Sunday of the month, and there are other significant ongoing projects at the station.   Fundraising work is always needed.  Contact the fundraising committee at: fundraising@valleyfreeradio.org, or the board of directors at board@valleyfreeradio.org.

Q: What if I haven’t met my meeting attendance requirements?

A: There are still two months to attend the many meetings at VFR, including the following:

Programming Committee: 1st Monday of the month, 7:00 PM at station

Board of Directors: 1st Weds of each month, 7:00 PM at MEF Community Room, Masonic Street, Northampton.

General Membership Meeting: 3rd Wednesday of each month 7:00 PM at MEF.

Fundraising: the schedule varies; please contact the committee at fundraising@valleyfreeradio.org.

Collective Meetings: please contact your liaison for detail of upcoming collective meetings.

Q: I am a programmer, and I have completed my work hours, attended meetings and paid dues.  What do I need to do?

A:

  • Make sure all hours are entered in online form for volunteer hours. [go to “popular” heading on website, and choose programmer resources; then select “programmer off-air volunteer hours reporting form”]
  • Make sure all meetings attended are logged on website [go to same as above “popular” and select “VFR meetings attended form”]
  • Fill out the online reapplication [go to “Popular”, programmer resources, and select “Valley Free Radio Reapplication Proposal Form”]

Q: What if the work I have done is cleaning before or after my show?

A: Sorry, but this is not accredited work.  Cleaning is now reserved for Work Sundays

[first Sunday of every month]

Q: What if I lose my show because I haven’t performed my responsibilities?  Can I get my show back?

A: Yes, once you have fulfilled the volunteer hours and meeting requirements of the previous year, you may resubmit your application. The Programming Committee WILL NOT hold spots for programmers, but will do their best to schedule your show in the time slots available at the time of reapplication.

Q: How are these decisions made in the organization?

A: The overall policy was approved at the board and general membership levels.  Decisions about individual shows will be made first by the programming committee and then the board of directors.  Approval of both bodies is required for continuation of a program.  Once a show has been approved by both of these bodies, the program is assigned a slot by the Programming Committee.  All meetings of these committees are open to the public.
