Programming

The Programming Committee is responsible for coordinating all Valley Free Radio programmers. The committee reviews proposals for new shows & new collectives, refers new programmers to collectives, facilitates the formation and scheduling of collectives, and monitors programmers’ membership requirements. The committee also provides support for programmers & collectives. In addition, the Programming Committee assists the programming collectives in outreach and recruitment and coordinates over 100 volunteer programmers–as well as assisting and recruiting new members!

Operations

VFR’s Operations Committee is responsible for overseeing the daily events of a community radio station. Some of our duties include staffing the station throughout the week, managing paperwork, assisting on-air programmers, and answering the questions of visitors and guests.

Fund Raising

Valley Free Radio is supported solely by its volunteers and its listeners. We accept no underwriting, in order remain completely commercial-free. The Fundraising Committee organizes on-air appeals to listeners and benefit community events.

Site-Tech

Site-Tech committee works on the physical site and the equipment at the station. Wires, mics, boards, headphones, nails, shelving galore…

Finance

The Finance Committee has the responsibility of creating and maintaining the financial “books” of the radio station, depositing any donations/other income, authorizing and paying for station expenditures, and keeping documentation related to the before-mentioned receipts and expenses. We also periodically report on finances to the Board of Directors and the General Membership, and solicit authorizations for any and all major outlays of cash.

Web Committee

The VFR Web Committee is a group of volunteers who help maintain the website and enter content.
