Greetings Earthlings. On Tuesday it’s day 18 of the Fukushima nuke disaster and a day after the 32nd anniversary of the Three Mile Island nuclear meltdown. Why are we boiling water with deadly radioactive material we don’t know how to dispose? This is the real March Madness, yes? Former Valley resident and nuclear activist, Harvey Wasserman calls in with updates and Citizens Awareness Network‘s Deb Katz returns to connect the dots to Vermont Yankee. D.O. waxes poetic with his take on Pluto Rising and we report back on the recent Vermont Yankee action in our E-Valley-uation segment. Time permitting we’ll also have a peak into The Enviro Show Echo Chamber and over at the Fool-on-the-Hill, but first it’s time for…Revenge of the Critters! Items discussed:
Pledge Drive! Discussion on what to say (stay positive!) how to say it (get a
pitch partner! work it! have premiums! get friends to pledge to pledge! talk
about our matching grant!) and what is expected (at least $50 from most shows,
$25 for night shows, forms filled out neatly and completely, etc.)
Something to add on to the tips sheet- programmers can mention that we’re
looking for feedback on our listenership, and that when you call in, you can
mention what shows you enjoy, how often you listen, where you are located, etc.
This info can also be emailed to programming@valleyfreeradio.org whether or not
you pledge. We can also send out a short survey with thank-you letters or with
another end-of-year mailing. If programmers are at all confused about how to go
about doing a pledge drive show, they should read the tips email, read the
guide
that Tony S. wrote (which he will email out again) and listen to other shows to
see how it’s done.
Warren Odess-Gillett interviews Joanne Mariam. Joanne describes how she almost became a Christian minister until she met her husband in seminary school. After becoming a Baha’i she and her family have lived in the Crow Creek reservation in South Dakota, South Carolina, Samoa, Fiji, Hawaii, the Navajo Reservation, and Maine; plus traveling in Siberia and plans to travel in Greenland.
