FUNDRAISING/PLEDGE DRIVE

6:05 – 6:17 PM Trying to make the key work and gain access to the meeting room.

6:18 PM The following is more and less pasted from last week’s minutes. The details and dates of the pledge drive have long been discussed and posted on the VFR website. Programmers are responsible for being aware of such details and requirements. There has been more than sufficient time for planning by programmers who do pre-recorded shows and are required to take part in the on air pledge drive with the same effort as are live programmers.

Copies of these here revelatory minuets will be posted in the programming studio.

The dates of the upcoming pledge drive will be September 22 – 28. Pre recorded shows are required to participate in the pledge drive, such as live programmers will be doing. Get on it. Please.

Ways to do this: Make a pre recorded show asking for donations throughout. Then, arrange to be in the studio yourself to answer calls. If you cannot be in the studio during your pre-recorded show then ask a volunteer to do so for you.

Do your show live and take calls in the studio.

If you cannot be in the studio to take pledge calls and cannot find a volunteer to do so, please include in your prerecorded show frequent requests asking people to go to the website and use the donation button. And/Or, give out the address so that they may mail in checks. Syndicated shows which air on other stations are asked to take a few minutes to duplicate their show for play on VFR and edit it to include pleas for support for VFR.

Follow the script and ask for donations frequently while promoting the merits of VFR.

There will be a list posted in the programming studio with suggested formats and Dos and Don’ts to help make fundraising more fun and effective.

We will make a formalized structure for sending thank-you-very-much(s) to those who donate. Please volunteer to be part of the Gracious Gratitude Committee if you have not currently signed up for and/or completed minimum volunteer requirements, so that you do not find yourself locked out on October 1.

It is suggested the programmers double up so one can answer phones. Check with your programmer pals in the slot before your show to see if they can stay through your show. And perhaps stay for the show after yours to help that programmer. Double the fun!

It costs 1200/month of dollars to run the station and so this pledge drive is very important, yes, indeed. If you do not participate in supporting VFR then perhaps there will no longer be a VFR to play your shows on.

We will be taking steps to ensure participation by all, rather than the few.

Shows will be monitored to see if they are taking part in the mandatory pledge drive. Live and pre-recorded shows that are not taking part in the pledge drive will be preempted by volunteers who will take over that slot and do a live show for the pledge drive.

Liaisons mustmustmust notify all of their collective members to make them highly cognizant of the pledge drive requirements.

All programmers are responsible for finding their own volunteers to help answer calls during their shows.

Studio managers can help programmers during their shifts but programmers must check with their studio managers to be sure they are available.

On air hosts for FSRN and DN must, of course, include a plea for donations.

6:38 PREMIUMS FOR PLEDGE DRIVE

We will make a list of businesses that people have already offered to contact asking for things to give away. Programmers are encouraged to contact businesses asking for donations. The list will be available soon on the website.

Because we do not have a budget to make t-shirts ahead of time, it was suggested by a little Mo that we offer VFR t-shirts and make them to order. Michelle Marchese will help with screen printing which is fabulously appreciated. Volunteers will be needed to assist in packaging and shipping of all giveaways and thank you notes.

We can offer businesses who donate a link from the VFR website. For $75 a t-shirt and membership will be awarded to donors. We will not accept blood. As other donationhs such as gift certificates and Hope Diamonds become available, we will make a list of items and minimum donation amounts to give them away.

PROGRAMMERS MUST KEEP CAREFUL LISTS OF WHO IS PROMISED WHAT AND CROSS IT OFF THE MASTER LIST SO THE SAME ITEM IS NOT GIVEN AWAY TWICE AND SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE DELIVERY OF PROMISED ITEMS.

6:42 VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS (AGAIN)

The discussion segued into volunteerism in a very organic way. We will begin taking away people’s time slots for non-compliance/participation. Seriously.

6:50 LISTSERV CHANGES

We will merge the email addresses associated with the discussion list into the announcement list so that all addresses are on that very important list. There will not be the ability to reply to the announcement list. Only board members will be able to post to the announcement list and all programmers wishing to make an announcement will have to send it to the board. The discussion list will remain as is.

ALL PROGRAMMERS MUST BE SIGNED UP FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT LIST IN ORDER TO HAVE A SHOW. REALLY AND TRULY. AND THEY MUST READ IT, DARN IT.
