FUNDRAISING/PLEDGE DRIVE
7:05 PM The date of the upcoming pledge drive will be September 22 – 28. Pre-recorded shows are advised to create a show dedicated to the pledge drive, such as live programmers will be doing.
Ways to do this: Follow the script and ask for donations frequently while promoting the merits of VFR. Arrange for a volunteer to sit in during the show and answer calls. Or, do the same and then arrange to be in the studio yourself to answer calls. If you cannot be in the studio to take pledge calls and cannot find a volunteer to do so, please include in your prerecorded show frequent requests asking people to go to the website and use the donation button. And/Or, give out the address so that they may mail in checks. Syndicated shows which air on other stations are asked to take a few minutes to duplicate their show and edit it to include a plea or two, asking for donations for VFR.
There will be a list posted in the programming studio with suggested formats and Dos and Don’ts to help make fundraising more fun and effective.
The FUNDRAISING MEETING will be the first Wednesday of September (9/3) at 6:00 before the board meeting. Volunteers are needed for assorted fun tasks. Come and help so you don’t get locked out October 1.
We will make a formalized structure for sending thank yous to those who donate. Please volunteer to be part of the Gratitude Committee if you have not currently signed up for and completed minimum volunteer requirements so you do not find yourself locked out on October 1.
It is suggested the programmers double up so one can answer phones. Perhaps you can make arrangements ahead with the programmer in the slot before your show to see if they can stay through your show. And perhaps stay for the show after yours to help that programmer. Double the fun!
It costs 1200 monthly of dollars to run the station and so this pledge drive is very important. Shows will be monitored to see if they are mandatorily taking part in the mandatory pledge drive.
LOCK CHANGE
7:45 PM On October 1 the lock will change. This date will not be moved. This is no joke. This is not a toy. Between now and them there is plenty of time to contact your liaison and arrange to fulfill your volunteer end of the bargain and get the new code. Don’t be left out in the cold. There are lots of really fun ways to fulfill those 2 monthly volunteer hours you agreed to at the time when you were given your slot.
NEW PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR VOTE
7:55 PM Strong Oak was unanimously voted in as new Programming Co-Coordinator, followed by rounds of applause and champagne dreams.
PUBLICITY/VALLEY ADVOCATE INSERT
7:58 PM To put an insert into the Valley Advocate, the cost is 45$ per thousand for a full run, with a minimum of ten thousand. A committee was created to investigate making a brochure with a tear-off for mailing in donations and also to find out what the full runs and the thousands etc in the first sentence actually mean. This committee so far is Mo Ringey and Steve Curylo. A programmer with snazzy design skills would be a welcome addition to this committee and will thus possibly not find themselves locked out on October 1.
PSA BOOK
8:15 PM Johanna proposed a standard form for PSAs and make them etc. Mo Ringey volunteered to read incoming PSA emails and sort them out including editing them down, (as Mo is famous for her brevity, which Dana Prescott comments on a wee bit too much) and putting them into the new red notebook which will exist soon. If anyone is willing to assist in the production studio and help us make PSAs, that’d be grand and would be worth a few lock change code acquirements. Mo needs the log in info to access said emails. If anyone knows this, please contact Mo via the listserv. PSAs will all have end/remove dates.
GOODBYES
