Prog Comm Meeting Minutes 7/10/08
In attendance: Alan Vogel, Keely Malone, Linda & Eddie Kennedy, Bush-I Harvey, Katerine Reason, Steve Cutting, Lila Wolan, and Jay Chase
1) New Obscenity Policy
The new obscenity policy was reviewed. The new policy distinguishes between intentional and unintentional obscenity violations. It also allows for immediate removal of all programming privileges if the violation is malicious in its intent, but also gives space for an unintentional slip up to be removed from a programmer’s record after 90 days. The policy will be reviewed at the next board Meeting–**Board please be advised and add this item to the next board meeting agenda.
2) New Attendance Policy
A new attendance policy will be written and presented at the August Prog Comm meeting. The new policy will distinguish between intentional blow off, and unintentional error/emergency/illness and will also have a 90 day cleanse of all old infractions.
3) Look Park Fundraising Event
Each Liaison was given a copy of Bush I’s letter to distribute to their collective members to solicit donations from local businesses. All programmers are encouraged to solicit funds, donations for a raffle, or a discount offered to VFR members.
4) People Going Over Their Allotted Time
One issue that has come up is people going over their alloted time thinking they are "filling in" until the next programmer arrives. This seems kind, but in fact this has meant that at times, programmers have prerecorded and automated a show that doesn’t get played for gets run over when the previous programmer doesn’t switch over to automation at the correct time.
NO Programmer should go outside of their alloted time, unless they are the official substitute DJ for that slot, or unless they are the closers of the program day–it was by Prog Commdecided that live dj is preferred in a late night to automated music. AND all programmers (or studio managers) should be checking off "automated" in the Red Log Book in the studio so the programmers can see taht there is in fact something to follow their show.
The issue was also raised that some programmers are inserting their shows themselves into automation–these programmers have been warned.
6) New Programmers Check List
Linda created a card that New programmers need to get filled out before they are approved to be on the air. The cards will be distributed at Tony U’s trainings and will be turned in to liaisons upon meeting all requirements. Trainers and programmers that do sit ins will sign off on the cards to confirm all has been done.
7) Advanced Training
There is interest in compiling a schedule of advanced trainings for DJs who want to spruce up their skills. Anyone who feels able to run and advance (or reminder) training please contact the Prog Comm 2 vfrprogramming@gmail.com–come on–stop getting mad that people are doing things wrong and start teaching them how to do it right!!!
