MEF
6 PM FUNDRAISING MEETING
7PM GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
In attendance with scattered arrivals: Board: Mo Ringey, Matt Dineen, Fidel Hidalgo, Bushi Harvey. Members: Eddie Kennedy, Linda Kennedy, Dana Prescott, Ed Russell, Arjuna Greist, “Reason”, Jim Bothwell (of The Valley Quarterly), Glen Ayers, D.O., Non-Members: Roxy Gantes, Matthew Alvey
6:15 It was a beautiful evening and the air conditioner did not fail to delight. The meeting began late, once the previous non-VFR meeting ended, with introductions. Jim Bothwell joined the discussion as a new member and asserted his willingness to volunteer for the fundraising event, offering insight from a successful recent fundraiser he had very recently successfully produced and directed at Look Park.
Underwriting/Sponsorship for this event was discussed and it was stated that we can solicit and accept assistance from businesses, regardless of non-profit status.
It was further discussed that we should offer levels of membership and sponsorship and acknowledge such contributions with links on the site and mention where possible such as future iterations of the event flier. Additionally, it was discussed and decided to offer a Family Membership at $40. A Senior Discount was agreed upon yet the exact amount of said discount was not determined at this time.
25 large posters are available now at Collective Copies. We will have others printed as needed and sizes may vary. Members are encouraged to place posters wherever permission may be granted.
The Press Release was admired and discussed. It was decided to slightly edit the existing version to herd the utmost emphasis on the fact that we are offering paid membership with FREE admission to the event as a reward for membership. It will also state, “For your membership you get…” and whatever rewards we can provide will be listed.
Bushi Harvey has been tirelessly contacting businesses and has agreements for food for volunteers and bands, and items for a raffle.
Eddie Kennedy has contacted all Collective Liaisons asking them to volunteer to help with the event. Fidel Hidalgo will also be contacting all programmers without current roles fulfilling their volunteer requirements, and try to assign them a specific role for this event. Mo Ringey has volunteered to help as well and they will both be contacting programmers individually.
Eddie and Linda Kennedy, along with Glen Ayers, will help in printing, cutting, and assembling and laminating membership cards with Tony Shannon (who was not present as he was in NYC inexplicably attending a YAZ concert).
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
Stage Crew
Working Admission at the Door (so far; Mo Ringey, Mathew Alvey, Matt Dineen)
Emcees to announce bands (to date-Arjuna Greist, Matt Dineen, Katherine “Reason”)
Coordinating Volunteers for specific tasks (Signed up; Fidel Hidalgo, Mo Ringey)
Promotion –All programmers and required to promote the event on their shows up until the event.
It was also discussed that there may be some confusion about programmers attending this event and this will be addressed via the google groups listserv and with notices placed in each programmer’s mailbox and with signs in the station: programmers will not be granted free admission to the event. Programmers who volunteer to help with the event will be allowed in for free.
At a future date, after the event, we will discuss a requirement in which programmers must be paid members in order to have a show. Programmers who are not paid members will not have the privilege of doing a show at VFR. And the monthly two hour minimum volunteer requirement will continue to be enforced.
The next fundraising meeting will be combined with the Music Collective meeting next Tuesday, July 22, at 6 PM at the MEF room.
Reminder—the next on-air pledge drive will be September 8-14.
