JUNE 18, 2008 GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MEF 7-9 PM
In Attendance: Board Members - Mo Ringey, Anthony Shannon, Matt Dineen, Members and others - Shirley Baum, Steve, Curylo, Dana Prescott, Bob Gutkowski
7:13 PM INTRODUCTION
The rain eased up and the meeting began with everyone poltiely introducing themselves in an effort to welcome Shirley Baum who came to observe.
7:16 ANNOUNCMENTS
Matt Dineen announced that tomorrow night is the event at Food for Thought Book at Amherst Books which got a mention and a listing in the Valley Advocate. Mo Ringey announced that a human had called during her show to commend Steve Curylo’s classics program and that Tony Shannon’s hair looked great.
7:20 LICENSE TRANSFER
No update this week as Tony Udell was not present.
7:21 VOLUNTEER UPDATE
Fidel Hidalgo was not present so no formal update was made this week. Steve Curylo reported that he’d been advised by Fidel that attending one meeting per month would fulfill his volunteer requirements. A brief general discussion followed in which it was clarified that one meeting per month is required in addition to 2 hours of volunteer work although a wistful glance around the sparsely populated room did spur a discussion about amending that requirement to increase attendance, yet no formal proposals were made.
It was noted that Eric Nash posted volunteer options on the listserv and Mo Ringey suggested we ask him to post said options on the website as well and so Mo will contact Eric to sweetly make the request.
7:25 LOCK PROPOSAL
A proposal is on the table, literally and figuratively, to change the lock every 3 months in an effort again to ensure that all programmers remain in contact with their Collective Liaisons as well as involved in the station as they would have to make contact every 3 months to secure the new code and thus enter the building forthrightly. The change would go into effect on September 1. There will be an official vote at the next GM in July on the 16th. It is hoped that attendance at that meeting will be less sparse and wistful.
7:30 PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE
Megha did not show up for the last programming committee meeting and has not made any contact so it is becoming apparent that she is no longer interested in the grueling job of Programming Co-Coordinator. Therefore, we need to elect a new PCC and also to officially elect the current acting PCC, Keely Malone. We will write a brief description of the tasks and responsibilities associated with the PCC position, omitting the word ‘grueling’. Mo will contact Fidel to let him know that this position is available for any programmer looking to fulfill their volunteer requirements and then some.
