General Membership Meeting Minutes 3.19.08

-Board Vacancies
There are two openings on the Board that must be filled. An election will occur at April’s GM. Terms will begin at May Board meeting until next election in October. Nominees can send their bios to: board@valleyfreeradio.org
-May 1st Relaunch/Transition to New Schedule
Major changes will take place on May 1st from the evening schedule to underwriting and a new lock on the station door. A pamphlet describing these changes will be distributed to every programmer’s mailbox next week. PSA’s will be made to inform the listenership. An OpCom meeting to focus on implementing a reliable streaming service will be scheduled soon. Food For Thought Books’ underwriting offer of $500 per year for 3 mentions a week revised to $250 for 6 months and 2 mentions a week. Other businesses will be contacted about underwriting DN! and FSRN. Trainings for studio manangers and local hosts will take place throughout the month of April to plan for the transition. VFR will try to partner with Jobs for Justice for May Day event in Northampton to help promote relaunch/new schedule.
-Volunteer Prerequisite
New programmers must be trained and serve 2 hours of volunteer time before going on the air effective May 1st.
-Monetary Alternative
Discussion around programmers who do not volunteer to pay to stay on the air. To be tabled until next GM along with a vote on membership dues for programmers.
-New Absense Policy
Policy for disciplining excessive tardiness of programmers. Approved with some tweaking suggested. To be distributed in each mailbox.
-Lock update
A new combination lock will be constructed on the station door on May 1st.
-Winter Soldier Series
Pacifica edited special will be played from this Friday through all of next week during spots in the schedule where automated music or some syndicated programs air.
