Meeting started at 7:10pm
JOSE TOLSON DISTRIBUTES MEMBERSHIP SURVEY
Jose Tolson distributed a survey he drafted to all the members in attendance.
He provided a brief explanation of the survey and asked that members return
completed surveys to his mailbox at the VFR station.
INFORMATION ABOUT LAWSUIT AND VFRS RESPONSE
A brief overview of the lawsuit by Cathy Santosus against VFR, MEF, Bob
Gardener, Cheryl Alexander and Noemi Valentin was announced. The announcement
also indicated that the VFR Board of Directors had engaged an attorney and that
more information would be presented to the membership at the next general
membership meeting.
PETITION: ANNOUNCEMENT AND DISCUSSION
A Petition (containing 37 signatures) organized and compiled by VFR members from
general membership regarding removing Cathy Santosus from Valley Free Radio was
read aloud by Libby Reinish and was submitted to the Clerk for Board
consideration.
During discussion of petition a proposal was made from the floor to engage in
settlement discussions with Cathy Santosus. This proposal was put to a straw
poll in order to obtain opinion of general membership. The straw poll results
for this proposal were: 7 in favor of settlement; 20 against settlement; 5
abstentions. This proposal for settlement was defeated.
The petitioners offered a proposal from the floor that the petition be taken
into consideration as the opinion of the membership by the Board. Another straw
poll was taken, and the results were: 25 in favor; 2 against; 2 abstentions; 3
did not vote. This proposal was accepted.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Grievance and Mediation Comm.-Working Agreement / Code of Conduct
. Revan S. requested that the general body briefly discuss the results
that the GMC found regarding the working agreement/code of conduct. She passed a
draft of the agreement/code and asked that members email gmc@valleyfreeradio.org
with any recommendations/additions.
Fundraising Comm.: Jane B. reported that brainstorming for future fundraising
projects is underway. She is soliciting the membership for fundraising ideas.
Programming Comm.: Tony reported that no votes were taken or decisions made at
last meeting.
Site Tech: Eric N. reported that site tech will begin locking up the minidisk
recorders in a couple of weeks.
